An Advent Devotional Unwrapping The Names of Jesus Asheritah Ciuciu

I am so blessed to have been able to read Asheritah Ciuciu’s latest book “Unwrapping The Names of Jesus; An Advent Devotional”

We have never celebrated advent before and I honestly didn’t know a thing about it before hearing about this book. This book has allowed me to learn more about advent and why it is celebrated but to also start my family in celebrating this season.

There is a devotional for each week

Hope

This week we remember that a Messiah would come to bring peace and love to our world.

Jesus is the light of the world.

This week as a family we decorated our tree and talked about how the evergreen tree symbolizes life even in the middle of winter just like Jesus as our Resurrection and the Life. As our Christmas lights twinkle and shine bright, just like our Christ, Jesus.

Preparation

This week we remember that the prophets waited for a Messiah to come and save the people.

Jesus is the truth.

This week as a family we saw a live nativity scene. We were able to talk about how Jesus came to the world and who came to visit him. Even when we are in a vulnerable place, there is a place for us because Jesus is here.

Joy

This week we remember that the birth of Jesus brings joy to all who believe in Him.

Jesus is the bread of life.

This week as a family we went caroling. We were able to spread the Christmas Spirit and spend time with some of the Cub Scouts and enjoy some great lights too!

Love

This week we remember that God has demonstrated His love for us by sending Jesus to be born in a manger and to suffer and die for our sins.

Jesus is Immanuel, God with Us.

This week we will be making a birthday cake for Jesus (along with Grandpa G). I don’t want to give too much away as there will be a blog post coming up but it will have several layers and each layer can represent the different names of Jesus and how he helps us.
