This will be the fourth year that we have a child (now two) in the Boy Scouts of America Cub Scout program. The first year I was a tiger adult partner (and helped my den leader husband), the second year was as a Lion Den Guide and Tiger Den Leader, the third year I was Committee Chair and Assistant Roundtable Commissioner-Cub Scouts).

This year?

I will be Committee Member, Assistant Roundtable Commissioner-Cub Scouts, and working on my Wood Badge ticket.

In just under 1 week I will be arriving at my first weekend of Wood Badge.

I first heard of Wood Badge in March of 2018 when I took BALOO. I knew right away that I wanted to send my husband but we were unfortunately unable to that year. Since that time, I became more involved with scouting and grew as a scouter so when the time to announce the 2019 Wood Badge course came, I was wanting to take it. It took us a bit of time to sign up but we were fully signed up and paid for by February of 2019.

It has been a long 5 months.

The time has finally come though. The childcare is arranged, the trips including directions and gas needed it printed, the bags are packed, and the excitement is building.

I look forward to the 2 weekends, the work, the learning, the bonding, and the overall experience.

I hope to share my journey as I go through the weekends of Wood Badge and the process of selecting and working my ticket.

Hopefully in around 18 months (or earlier) I will have a post of me earning my beads!
